houston, texas garden wedding
I want to start by saying Colleen and Jarod are some of the most kind, compassionate people I have ever met. I absolutely loved working with Colleen from our first lunch date, to their engagement session, to their wedding day! She had a specific vision for their wedding, and she chose us because she felt we would capture that vision well! While things didn't quite go exactly as planned on her wedding day, Colleen handled each bump in the road (or in her case - each boom of thunder and inch of rain) with grace.
The day started beautiful and sunny, but as Houstonians have learned, May weather can turn in an instant. About halfway through the guys' getting ready photos, we noticed the wind picking up outside, which was quickly followed by lightning. By the time we made it back to Hotel Granduca, where the girls were getting ready, the rain was coming down and we were a little worried we'd get caught in a flood (#houstonprobs). Luckily, Colleen's gorgeous venue (Gardens of River Oaks) had a beautiful green house that her amazing planner/florist (Lauren Burnham of Vintage Indulgence) converted to a ceremony space! It turned out absolutely beautiful and the rain created an extremely romantic atmosphere.
While the weather was not ideal, the moment Colleen arrived at the top of the aisle and her eyes met Jarod's, you could almost see the worry melt away as their love filled the room! These two love each other deeply, and are so loved by their friends and family. It's moments like this that I find myself tearing up at weddings - when nothing else matters because two amazing people are committing their lives to one another. We feel so honored to have been a part of this special day, and we feel that these photos truly capture the love, excitement, and beauty that filled that little glass green house to the brim!
