clair + alex // sand flats engagement session // moab, utah adventure photographer
One of my biggest fears when we packed up and hit the road full time was leaving behind our incredible community in Texas. I feared it would be really hard to make friends on the road and I figured once we did make friends, it would be difficult to grow deep relationships with them because we'd be moving around so much and surely the friends we met would too! Well, after spending two months in Moab, that fear was proven completely wrong. The community of misfits here is strong and we've absolutely loved getting to know them! Some of the closest friends we've made in the past few months were Clair and Alex, an edgy, extreme-sports-loving couple living out of an RV full-time. Clair is a professional BASE jumper, climber, mountain bike racer and model, and Alex is an incredible tattoo artist, mountain biker, and videographer. Needless to say, they'e pretty rad!
They recently got engaged and we really wanted to do their engagement session somewhere in Moab before we left for the winter but it kept getting pushed back because of weather and various adventures! Thankfully, we made it happen right before we left town and it ended up being perfect. We drove up to a gorgeous rec area above Moab and did a quick session right after a rainstorm and just before it got dark. After looking over these photos, I am so happy we shot when we did because the stormy weather and dark clouds fit Clair and Alex's edgy personalities perfectly. That being said, these two could not stop making each other laugh throughout our session - every photographer's dream! It was really fun doing these photos for them after getting to know them so well. We all had a lot of laughs and a great time! After spending most of our time in Moab shooting extreme sports (did you see this photo I took of Clair the day we met?) it was fun to get to do an engagement session and go back to what makes me love photography: people in love!
