Moab, Utah Visitor Guide | Advice from Local Moab Elopement Photographers
What to Do in Moab, Utah
A city + activities guide by local adventure wedding photographers
We’re The Hearnes, adventure elopement photographers based in Moab, Utah! We have been spending a majority of our time in Moab while living on the road for almost five years now, and have been official “locals” for a year after buying our house last winter! We spend a lot of time in Moab, and honestly I get so many messages on Instagram asking for Moab recommendations that I figured I’d create a blog post with everything I send people! I hope this is helpful for you, and definitely let me know if you’ve been to Moab and you think I missed anything! A few other relevant posts we’ve written:

Guiding Companies
Skydive Moab
If you’ve ever considered skydiving, Moab is the place to do it!! We are both licensed skydivers and while we’ve jumped all over the country, we both agree Moab is the most scenic place we’ve jumped! The flight takes you up over Arches National Park and near Canyonlands NP, and you jump out 10,000+ feet above the ground for the most amazing experience!!! We love skydiving, and SD Moab is an amazing company that takes safety very seriously. Their instructors and pilots are top-notch, we literally trust them with our lives and the lives of our closest friends and family members :)
Pinnacle Helicopters
This Moab helicopter tour company is top-notch and is hands down the best way to see the Moab area. Ben (the pilot) is absolutely amazing, you’ll feel like you’re friends with him immediately and he knows this region like the back of his hand! They’re extremely professional and take safety seriously, I can’t reccomend a helicopter tour in Moab enough!
Redtail Aviation
Another amazing flight tour company out of the Moab airport! Plane tours are a little more budget friendly than helicopter tours, and they have a huge selection of flights to choose from!
Moab Canyon Tours
If you’re looking to do some adventuring but don’t want to get in over your head, Moab Canyon Tours is a great company for professionally guided canyoneering/rappelling and rock climbing! They have a huge selection of adventures ranging from a few hours to full-day missions. MCT hires some of the best guides in town and they know the area so well, you’ll love your adventure with them! No experience required. If you’ve ever wanted to get into rock climbing or canyoneering but don’t know where to start, this would be a great first step.
Dank Mick Jeep Tours
Dan Mick is a legend around town and has a top tour company to prove it! They have a huge array of Jeep tours at really reasonable prices, and they provide an amazing service. Jeeps are one of the best ways to see the Moab area, I highly reccomend this if you want an intro into the Moab Life!
Stores
Moab Gear Trader
This is one of our favorite stores in Moab and our first stop anytime we need new (to us) gear! It’s a consignment shop, so you can usually find good condition gear for way cheaper than the new price. It’s how we got almost all of our early climbing gear, as well as essentials like shoes, hiking boots, clothes, and so on. Plus, shopping used is way better for the environment than buying a new thing. If you frequent Moab, you can start an account with them and sell your own gear for credit or cash.
Back of Beyond Books
I absolutely love this little bookstore on main street in Moab! There is always something interesting to catch my eye. In addition to books, they have a great selection of post cards, stickers and such so it’s a good stop if you’re visiting! They also have a few used books and I’ve definitely scored some gems for great prices. I love this store - don’t miss the poster section in the back with vintage maps and old National Park pamphlets!
Moab Made
This is a great shop for gifts, jewelry, unique art, and so on! It features local Moab artisans and always has new and interesting products. It’s one of those places I love to just wander through, and I often leave with a new postcard, sticker, or little piece of jewelry.
Moab Rock Shop
The Moab Rock Shop is another classic place that you definitely need to visit whether you plan to buy anything or not! It’s part museum, part souvenir shop and has so many amazing little nooks to explore! You can see (and buy) real dinosaur bones, giant chunks of petrified wood, and a huge array of rocks + fossils found in the Moab area and nearby. It’s wildly interesting and such a fun visit!
WabiSabi Thrift Store
Callen and I have always been huge fans of thrifting (in fact some of our favorite dates in the early days were browsing goodwill and finding amazing things like the ski suits we still use today!), so it’s no surprise we love to frequent the Moab thrift store. We actually have two in town, but WabiSabi is definitely my favorite! They have an exciting collection and I always find something fun and unique when I go.
GearHeads Outdoor Store
If you couldn’t find what you were looking for at GearTrader or need something new, GearHeads is a great resource for outdoor supplies in Moab. They also have free filtered water and make it super easy to fill up containers + water bottles!
Obviously, the main reason you probably came to Moab was to hike, camp, explore, and do other mostly-free things in nature! Our next guide will go over a few of our favorite hiking areas and activities to do around Moab. I hope you found this helpful! Let me know in the comments if so, or if you think I missed something great in Moab. You can find other recommendations here:
