enchanted rock sunrise proposal // central texas engagement photographer //

A few hours after I got home from shooting Jess's senior session in San Antonio, her sister Caitlan texted me asking if we had room for a session that Saturday morning. I love Caitlan and while we did have plans for Saturday, I asked her for more details and when she told me her brother-in-law was proposing to his girlfriend at the top of Enchanted Rock and needed a photographer, I knew we had to do it!! We ended up waking up at 5am to drive out to the park in time for sunrise, then sprinting up the rock (it was strenuous!!) to keep up with Tanner and Paige without being too obvious, but it was absolutely worth it to capture this amazing moment for them! We managed to "hide in plain sight" and look like casual hikers before whipping out the cameras as he got down on one knee. She was SO surprised! We always get so nervous during proposals and come up with so many ways things could go wrong, but so far they've all been amazing with no issues (knock on wood!) and it's SO worth the insane amount of joy we get to capture afterwards. I love the candid happy hugs and "oh my gosh we're engaged" looks. There are so many moments that our job feels like the most spacial thing in the world (standing in the room when bridesmaids pray over their bride friend, watching couples see each other for the first time on their wedding day, just to name a few) and being with a couple right after their proposal is no different. It was so fun and we are so thankful Tanner chose to include us!
