I want to start off by staying this is one of my favorite sessions to date. It won't take long for you to see why! Michelle and Sylvan are some of our best friends - in fact, they're the first friends we made in Moab when we started seeing this place as a home and not a vacation spot. If you've been following us for a while, you may remember them from this cable arch highline, or more recently, from their epic proposal at GGBY! We have been looking forward to getting back to Moab so we could do their engagement session and once we decided on sunrise, I knew exactly where to take them. This might be my favorite spot in Moab, it's where Callen and I used to always go the moment we got into town, and I've seen it at sunset countless times but never sunrise! We were so stoked Michelle and Sylvan were down...and pretty proud to be showing Sylvan, a Moab local, a new spot!

We call our photography sessions "adventure sessions" because we're normally bringing our clients on a new adventure, which sometimes gets people a little out of their comfort zone. This time, Michelle + Sylvan were the ones taking ME out of my comfort zone when they started doing their Acro-Yoga on an epic ledge! I hesitated for a bit, I'm sure you can see why, but then realized these two have practiced together SO much, have SO much trust for each other, and (most importantly) wouldn't do anything to put each other in danger, despite the perceived risk. So, I didn't stop shooting even though I kind of wanted to cover my eyes, and I'm so glad because the result was absolutely stunning! It's really fulfilling to have combined our arts - my eye for lighting and location, and their ability to calmly do difficult poses near a cliff - to create such beautiful photos. I am so happy with how their engagement session turned out not only because of the Acro photos, but also the "normal" photos that really show their connection and love for each other. My goal as a photographer is to tell a true story in an inspiring and visually appealing way, and I believe we really rocked that with this session! Plus, it was sunrise in our favorite desert. What could be more perfect? Also -- check out this short video Callen made from the session
