intimate wedding in yosemite national park | adventurous destination wedding photographer
lindsey + stuart's intimate family-centered wedding in yosemite | national park elopement | destination elopement photographer
I don't even know where to start with these two. We had so much fun getting to know them and I sort of think Lindsey might be my soul sister (mainly her sarcastic sassy attitude) which is pretty amazing considering how they found us. We often joke that word-of-mouth referrals aren't a thing for us like they are for most photographers because we live everywhere (local nowhere) and most of our couples are destination eloping, so they are typically the one super-adventurous couple in their friend group that skips the big wedding and elopes to a rad destination, so the likelihood of them referring is a friend is slim. But the tables have turned, and Lindsey + Stuart actually found us through a friend of ours! They live in Texas near Austin, and when they went to get Lindsey's ring cleaned they were chatting with one of the employees at the jewelry store (who happened to be my best friend Kendall) and mentioned they were getting married in Yosemite. Kendall got super excited and told them her best friends (us!) happen to be the best Yosemite wedding photographers (Thanks Kenny!!) and after a quick look at our website they couldn't help but agree :) And the rest is history! After doing their engagement photos in Texas when we were home for Christmas, and shooting their intimate wedding in Yosemite, I honestly can't thank Kendall enough for sending them our direction. We honestly feel like we've made life-long friends with these two!
Lindsey and Stuart chose Yosemite site-unseen, knowing they wanted their wedding to be somewhere beautiful that their guests would enjoy. They narrowed their guest list to just family and a handful of friends, which made for the sweetest weekend with the people that mattered most to them. We started their day with an early morning first look and portraits in the frosty valley, joined by Lindsey's mom and best friend who were total troopers carrying jackets, straightening her dress, and helping keep Lindsey warm between photos! We wandered through beautiful fields, across fallen trees, and admired Half Dome poking around the mountain. When it came time for their ceremony, it had warmed up quite a bit (thank goodness!) and everyone gathered on the banks of the Merced River for their sweet wedding with El Cap as their backdrop. After a mini celebration we whisked them away for sunset portraits at one of our favorite spots in the valley. Despite consistent cloud coverage all day, the sun came through for the last hour of daylight, filling Yosemite with that classic California light and giving us an epic sunset filled with color. We walked back to the cars with smiles on our frozen faces, and I overheard the best words from our new bride + groom:
Stuart said "This was everything we hoped for" to which Lindsey replied "It was more than we could've possibly imagined."
I am so thankful for this incredible job we have. Wedding days like theirs remind us why we do what we do, and why we believe in "small" weddings that may have quaint guest lists but are big in so many ways.
