I always love when we get to do engagement photos with our couples before their wedding day because it gets the intros out of the way and makes their wedding day feel easy to approach. We loved doing April + Aran's engagement photos in the mountains outside of LA and it was so fun to see them again in the mountains of Montana for their intimate wedding! I'll never first April's first e-mail to me, she described their wedding venue (White Raven Wedding + Event Center) as nestled in the mountains "and a river runs through it." She had my attention almost immediately :) The more we chatted the more we connected and I can honestly say I feel honored to have joined her + Aran (and Lochlan!) for this special journey.
Their ceremony was incredibly sweet and had an ethereal golden glow from the sun shining through smoke from some nearby wildfires. The smoke created one of the coolest sunsets I've ever seen and I'm so glad we made our way down to the bridge for portraits as the sky changed colors and reflected off the river below. I don't often have a "favorite" part of every wedding day, but I have to admit the sunset portrait session was my favorite!! After noticing the rad sunset, I asked April if she and Aran might be down to hop in our packraft and paddle across the river to a rocky island for some photos (I totally expected her to say no - and definitely would've understood!) and she said yes without hesitation! They were adorable in our tiny raft paddling out in their wedding clothes, and I have to say the photos were definitely worth it!! Her dress was absolutely perfect for these big, pulled-back landscape shots and I absolutely love how they turned out!
