Kristin + Kevin's Yosemite National Park adventure wedding | sunrise elopement at taft point | california intimate wedding photographer

Some days I just sit back in complete awe that this is my job. Kristin and Kevin's intimate wedding day in Yosemite National Park was one of those days. From the first time we spoke on the phone, I knew Kristin and Kevin were the type of people we'd love working with. They had originally been planning a big wedding near home, but realized it was stressing them out more than necessary and it was difficult to feel like their wedding would represent them as a couple, so they scrapped the plans and decided to elope in Yosemite National Park - sight unseen! They sat down and talked about what was really important to them and decided they wanted to prioritize a meaningful ceremony and beautiful photos. Well, not to sound full of myself, but they definitely got both of those things!

Honestly, these two are a perfect example of how beneficial it can be to trust us as your photographers. They reached out to us after seeing our photos of Yosemite on instagram and basically said "we've never been here, but want to get married here. where should we get married?" which, let me tell you, is a DREAM client right there. Callen and I have spent a ton of time exploring this park and were happy to suggest a number of locations depending on what they wanted. After offering everything from water fall backdrops to tall trees to valley views, they decided they wanted epic overlooks (I don't blame them, Yosemite is kind of mecca for that sort of thing) so we decided to do their first look at Glacier Point and their ceremony at Taft Point. We knew these places can get crowded in the summertime, so we (with a bit of hesitation) suggested going for sunrise instead of sunset and were stoked when they said yes! It was incredible to have Glacier Point pretty much to ourselves for their first look and portraits (which made the 3am wake-up call SO worth it).

After running around Glacier Point for bride and groom photos, we met up with their incredible officiant, Lauren of Rhythm & Light Ceremonies, to begin hiking to the ceremony location. Despite the trail being a little difficult to follow because of the unmelted snow, a full on creek crossing (which Kristin ROCKED in her wedding dress), and a bit of route-finding through the forest, we made it to Taft Point and picked a gorgeous spot overlooking El Cap to the west and Yosemite Falls to the east, far enough away from the edge that Kristin didn't have a heart-attack during her wedding :) Lauren did an amazing job with their ceremony and there wasn't a dry eye around as they read their vows and committed their lives to each other with the valley as their witness. By the time we hiked back everyone was exhausted and filled with joy over what we had just been a part of. Sometimes I'm just in awe at what a gift it is to witness these amazing, meaningful weddings!

Ros + Dan | backyard wedding in Moab, Utah | Adventure Wedding Photography

From the first time I chatted on the phone with Dan and Ros I knew I should consider myself lucky to work with such awesome people. A few months later they had us over for dinner at their house in Moab to get to know each other and talk details for their wedding. We walked around the orchard in their backyard, scouted ceremony locations, and talked about everything from wedding plans to Moab adventures! Despite being Moab locals themselves, they put their trust in us with location scouting for their first look and choosing a spot to go take sunset portraits. Thankfully, Moab doesn't have any lack of gorgeous spots nearby. We were psyched to find a great first look spot 10 minutes from their house and we took them to one of our favorite places near town for sunset.

Dan and Ros created a beautifully authentic ceremony that will always be cherished, truly a display of the incredible family and community supporting their new life together. From Dan's hometown beer delivery, Ros' friend dominating the cake game, local farms providing incredible dishes, to Lucas masterfully debuting as the raddest officiant around, this backyard wedding was all one could ask for. Did I mention how excited and precious their son River was all day long?! We love documenting beautiful moments for incredible people in our favorite places and this is a day that will not be forgotten. Cheers to the happy couple, adorable River, and sweetest pupper Baila!

Courtney + Nathan | Moab Wedding Portrait Session in Canyonlands National Park | Desert Wedding Inspiration | Utah Adventure Wedding Photographer

We had a total "small world" moment with Courtney and Nathan, they found us because they were following our friend Brianna Madia (who isn't?) and fell in love with our work, but after we got to talking we realized we were both native texans with a deep love for the Moab desert and the American West! Later, we realized we even had a handful of mutual friends from high school and college, crazy! Anyway, Courtney reached out to me because she and Nathan were itching for a reason to come to Moab and she had been playing around with the idea of re-doing their wedding portraits and they loved our style of adventure photography! Considering we had just done a similar session for Gabi + Brandon and loved it, I was definitely on board for the idea!

Let me tell you the desert was MOODY the week of their session! I was really excited at the possibility of some wind and clouds to add a cool dynamic, but when it rained almost all day before we met up with them, I was starting to get a little worried. Despite it being late spring, it was realllllly cold rain in town and I was a little nervous knowing we'd be gaining significant elevation to get to our location in Canyonlands National Park. After some warm pizza in Moab, we all decided to rally and hope for the best, cold weather + possible rain and all! When we got to Mesa Arch, our first stop, it was 36 degrees outside and windy, but Courtney + Nathan were total troopers! Thankfully the weather scared away the crowds, so we didn't have to worry about people too much. We took in the striking views and watched the storm move across the desert. I love that they chose to do some photos in casual clothes to show a more typical side of them! After Mesa Arch, we headed out to my favorite overlook in Canyonlands National Park for the last bit of sunset. It was one of the coolest, most dynamic sunsets I've seen thanks to the snow in the distance and the storms all around us! We ran around the overlook taking in gorgeous views and sipping hot chocolate (Thanks Callen!) until the sun was completely gone. After wrapping up and heading back to town, we all piled in the hot tub where Courtney + Nathan were staying and it was pretty much the perfect way to end such an adventurous day! The session started with pizza, took us to a National Park, and then ended with a hot tub...please tell me something more perfect ;)

KAT + ADDY | ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST CAMPGROUND WEDDING IN THE MOUNTAINS | CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE PHOTOGRAPHER

When Kat first reached out to me to shoot her and Addy's wedding, she explained that they had been planning a wedding in Los Angeles but couldn't find a venue that allowed dogs, so they decided to do a small wedding at a campground in the Angeles National Forest. I imediately knew we'd get along and after finally meeting them for their engagement photo session in Mojave National Preserve in Southern California, my assumptions were confirmed! Their plan for their camp-style wedding in the mountains was a relaxed atmosphere for their friends and family from all over the country to spend time with them.

They brought out a delicious food truck and set up in a group campsite surrounded by mountains and trees. Their buddhist ceremony was absolutely beautiful and the sunset that even was a wedding photographer's dream! We hiked up to an overlook for a mini adventure session as the sun was setting, then made our way back to the camp fire for s'mores. We especially loved playing around with the fire light and getting creative with the last few photos, well after the sun had set. As photographers, we love when our clients trust us to get creative and try new things, and we're so psyched on the result! We're in love with those moody, grainy camp fire photos at the end. Kat and Addy, thank you so much for inviting us to be your wedding photographers! It was such a fun adventure.

When we lived in Moab for two months months last fall, we used to drive by Under Canvas Moab every day on our way out to the campsite and I was always intrigued by the safari-style, classic canvas tents they had set up. I'm a huge fan of quirky, old-school camping style and I figured these were just like that! We finally got a chance to check them out in Moab a few weeks ago and I must say, while they look like Wes Anderson designed the outside, the insides are nothing short of luxurious complete with a fully-functional restroom, leather sofa and a wood burning stove! Think Moonrise Kingdom meets mid-century modern and you've got Under Canvas Moab. I got in touch with them because I knew they did weddings and I am pretty much in love with the idea of shooting a desert wedding there! I proposed the idea of a little inspiration shoot, where I'd take some photos in a tent and some around the gorgeous property and they were psyched! Now all I needed was a couple.

Enter Gabi and Brandon. I don't remember how we found each other, but I was following them on instagram as fellow climbers/road lifers (they live in an epic airstream) and noticed they did a selfie session in White Sands with their wedding clothes. We got to talking and I learned that it had rained on their wedding day and they didn't get any great photos of the two of them, so they decided they'd just take their own on the road! Well, as fate would have it, I needed a couple and they needed some photos, so it all worked out perfectly! We met up with them the night before our shoot for burgers and beer at the Moab brewery and instantly clicked. They are fellow adventure wedding photographers, so it was really fun to talk about everything from running a photography business to the challenges of life on the road.

We knew they'd be down for an adventurous session, so we decided to add in a few photos at one of our favorite overlooks in Canyonlands National Park before heading to Under Canvas Moab. Side note - everyone thinks of Arches National Park when they go to Moab, but Canyonlands is one of our favorite parks (definitely our favorite in Utah) and is seriously underrated! After an epic photo session at Canyonlands, we rushed down the 313 to Under Canvas Moab for sunset. It was so fun to go from sweeping views and huge cliffs to the quaint, lovely desert vibe at Under Canvas. We watched the sunset paint Arches National Park and the La Sal Mountains with pinkish light and took photos until the sky was dark blue. We ended the perfect day with a camp fire complete with s'mores and beers. If you're planning a wedding and want a mix of homey camp-style vibes with epic, sweeping views, I strongly urge you to consider Under Canvas Moab! And get in touch with us so we can come back :)
