Laura + Pauly’s Sunset Picnic Engagement Session in Moab Utah

Oh my goodness we had so much fun with Laura and Pauly’s adventure engagement session in Moab! These two live in Moab part time and when we bought our house in February and made this desert officially our home, Laura was one of the first people to come over! She brought us the sweetest housewarming gift (local coffee and a set of mugs!) and we ended up spending the rest of the evening together hanging out (Brianna was there too!) and hiking with the dogs. I first met Laura when she reached out to me a year or so ago to interview for the Women on the Road Podcast that she runs! It was my first time interviewing for a podcast and I was super nervous before she called me, but she is SUCH a great interviewer and I felt like I was chatting with a friend the whole time. You can listen to the full interview here to hear my thoughts about working full time while living on the road, some of my favorite outdoor activities, why I don’t share locations on Instagram, and a lot more! It was such a fun interview and Laura absolutely crushed it. I love all of her episodes, but another favorite has to be this one with Brianna!

For Laura and Pauly’s engagement session, we decided to do something pretty casual. They trusted us 100% with their location and we had a spot we’d been wanting to quest out to in the Jeep for a while, so we all piled in and headed out into the desert! After a lot of turns and crossing a lot of washes, we arrived at the base of these gorgeous towers and had the whole area to ourselves! It was absolutely beautiful with 360 views all the way out to the mountains. We started their session with a little picnic (mainly chips and salsa), sipped tea and seltzers, and eventually we started hiking around exploring the area. As the sun got lower we decided to quest out a little farther and found the perfect ledge to lay a blanket down and soak in the sunset. One of my very favorite things about Moab is how every sunset ends with pink alpine glow on the La Sal Mountains!

— Random, but here’s a caption I wrote a couple years ago about sunset on the La Sal:

Every day, the sun sets in Moab and the canyons start to get dark. If you're standing between some tall sandstone fins, you might think the sun is gone. But if you're up high enough...there is a sweet moment in time, just a few minutes each day, that everything is dark except for the La Sal mountains. And man do they put on a show. I'll never get tired of seeing the mountains and the desert in one view.

Honestly, this day was such a joy and super refreshing! It was one of our first sessions back after our big winter break and it felt so wonderful to be doing the best job in the world again, and to do it with such great friends! Laura + Pauly, we really love you two!!
