Jena + Kyler’s Anniversary Portrait Session | Boating on the Bay and Sunset on the Beach
Oh my goodness, we had SO much fun visiting our friends Jena and Kyler on their home island of Oahu, Hawaii! If you’ve been following us for a few years now, you might recognize these two from their gorgeous wedding near Washougal, Washington on the mountain that Jena grew up on. Her dad built a beautiful tree deck wedding venue from scratch for their ceremony! It was so amazing! And then we went out to Mount Rainier National Park for a day-after session with Jena and Kyler. We’ve stayed friends with them since, so when Jena saw we were headed to Hawaii, she reached out to see if we’d be down to set up an anniversary session in their wedding clothes as a way to celebrate their time living here! We ended up spending a few days with them, staying at their house and adventuring around the island together. It was amazing. One of the days, we rented a boat and went out to a really gorgeous sandbar area to swim, chill, and casually snorkle with sea turtles!

It’s so much fun having these two in front of our cameras again!! We photographed their wedding in Washington almost three years ago and have stayed in touch, camped together in Moab, and now we’re staying with them on Oahu for a few days. Yesterday we took a boat out to a giant sandbar and spent hours walking around in knee-deep warm water, swimming with sea turtles, and relaxing on floaties in the sun. I have decided this is definitely the January beta 🏝🌈

It’s 20 degrees outside in Moab and I just can’t help but think about ice cream for dinner and running around on the warm beach barefoot with these two in Hawai’i just a couple of weeks ago! I’m loving these cold snowy desert days with no tourists in sight, but coming inside and thawing out while editing sunny Hawai’i photos is...something else 😅
