Jake and Kai’s laid-back engagement session in the sand dunes near Moab, Utah

Oh my goodness, we had so much fun with Jake and Kai for their engagement session in Moab! This was our first session post-quarantine and it was so refreshing to get back to doing the work we love most. Jake and Kai are local guides in Moab and they got engaged on top of Castleton Tower, so it should be no surprise that we had a blast hanging out with them (and their adorable pup Moki!!). For their engagement session, they let us choose the location and were completely open to our ideas! I immediately thought of these epic sand dunes we found driving random dirt roads one day. I’ve been wanting to shoot out here for a while, so it was really rad to get to bring such an adventurous couple here for sunset! It was STUNNING.

We met up in the afternoon and they made us dinner at our little campsite, we sipped wine and got to know each other, and then all piled in the Jeep for our adventure. We drove up into the dunes, got out, immediately kicked off our shoes, and spend the next couple of hours like little kids in a giant sandbox! It was so much fun, especially with their adorable dog who LOVED the sandy hills. The sunset was so stunning and just kept getting better. By the end of the evening, we were all sandy and exhausted, and reeling at the gorgeous landscape around us! Utah is such an amazing place, full of never-ending hidden gems like this one. We’re so stoked Jake and Kai trusted us to pick their location, I don’t think they were disappointed! :) It was such a wonderful day!

We finally got to dip our toes back into adventure sessions with some engagements yesterday and had so much fun with these two. Jake and Kai (and their adorable sidekick Moki) are Moab locals, they work as canyoneering guides and spend their free time getting after all the adventures from rock climbing to pack rafting, they even got engaged on top of one of our most iconic towers!

They let us pick their location for this session and while they might have questioned giving me that much freedom as they drove way way waaaay out here on a bumpy dirt road, I’m pretty sure when they pulled up and saw this secret lil corner of the desert they were psyched ☺️ As soon as we got to the sand dunes, we all kicked off our shoes and ran around like kids in a giant sandbox while the sun went in and out of the clouds, eventually giving us a gorgeous sunset! It was such a great day with these two!

A dream of a day! ✨

Taking a look at my feed it’s all either pics of Moki, us squeezin into some slots, or scramblin up a tower 🤪

If you know Jake and I, our usual attire is ripped pants, (not in a fashionable I bought them that way kind of ripped pants) and tee shirts. The last time Jake and I got all dolled up was in 2018 for my brothers wedding! So when we were getting ready for our pics to be taken, I had zero dresses and Jake had zero button up shirts in our closet. 🙈 We ordered some things online and were sooooo nervous we’d look like total idiots.

Luckily @thehearnes create absolute maaaagic and made our little fam look and feel like gold! 😭
