The Hearnes Self Portraits in Moab, Utah | Rue de Seine Try-On and My Honest Thoughts

From Instagram, February 18, 2020

Yesterday, we rallied the Jeep on a pretty wild dirt road we’d be eyeing for a little bit and after pulling up to the top of a beautiful hill, we got all dressed up and took some photos as the sunset painted our home mountains pink. It wasn’t to celebrate any special in particular. In fact, I only came up with the idea when this borrowed dress was delivered to my doorstep on Thursday and I tried it on. And at home, alone, I spun around the mirror and decided I wanted to do a little photo shoot in this dress before I had to send it back ☺️ Callen agreed (hero) and we tried not to be too fussy or complicated...we picked the spot on a map, spent four hours driving and exploring sandy washes and scrambling on boulders, and spent less than an hour at the very end of the day all dressed up running back and forth between our tripod and the mountains.

We forgot to pack snacks, and it was way colder than we expected (couples...I have a new understanding of what you go through 😜), and Charlie decided he was over it about 15 minutes in, but I’m so grateful for these photos. And so grateful for my little fam in my big desert. And of course, for @ruedeseinebridal dropping off the most beautiful pieces of art on my doorstep! I’ve never worn anything like this dress and I won’t soon forget the feeling 🥰

It’s kinda wild to me that we’ve been back in Moab for less than a month considering how much we’ve done. The truth is, even living in this paradise, it’s so easy to wake up and have a lazy day, or get psyched on some new project for our business and spend three days glued to the computer for 12+ hours. And while both of those things *can* be okay in moderation, I’ve learned that none of this is worth it if we don’t take time to go play outside. The work that goes into our business is so rewarding, I LOVE working with our couples and making their wedding dreams come true. I also love our time “off” adventuring in the outdoors. Although...I have to admit all of our adventures have a tiny “work” element because I’m constantly adding places to our mental list of amazing remote elopement locations!

Our favorite thing about living in Moab is how close these adventures are, because honestly, we can wake up and sip our coffee while we talk through ideas — do we want to repeat an old favorite hike? Go quest somewhere new? Rally the Jeep up a dirt road? Head into one of the two National Parks in our backyard? The options are *literally* endless, and the best part is how easy it is to head out, have an incredibly fun time, and then be back with plenty of time for a solid work day too! I am so in love with what we’ve created here. And I owe a thank you to every single amazing couple we’ve worked with, and all of you following along and spreading the word. Y’all are a big part of this amazing business too...it wouldn’t be the same without this community, whether you ever officially work with us or not.

Today’s adventure was a really fun one (you can see it in my stories!), and now I’m excited to wash the sand off my toes, catch up on the emails that came in while we were out of service, and edit a few photos from a recent session that was super inspiring. I’m thankful...I just can’t say it enough 🖤"

I’ve been reccomend Rue de Seine dresses to our more boho-style brides for years and have only heard great things, but this was the first time I personally tried one on! I have to say, the moment I pulled this dress out of the box, I was absolutely amazed by the intricate details and high quality. I put it on first just for fun, and then couldn’t convince myself to take it off, and thats actually how I got the idea of doing this little self-portrait session in the first place! This dress was so comfortable and felt amazing on. I could walk around, sit down, stand up, climb on our Jeep, etc very easily! I loved how lightweight it felt walking around, but that the train still felt substantial and really special to wear. I genuinely think that if I were getting married right now, I would be wearing a Rue de Seine gown, quite possibly this exact one!
